BIOGRAPHY
Branko Dragaš is a renowned Serbian economist, banker, writer, columnist, political analyst, advisor, and critic, as well as the founder of the MOBA movement in Serbia.
1982 - Graduated from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Economics, Department of Theory of Economics.
1984 - Employed as a banker in JUGOBANKA at the Currency Trade Department. Major project: developing a daily capital turnover of 100 million DEM.
1990 - President of Karic Banka, the first private bank in Eastern Europe. During two years in that position, Mr. Dragaš created a profitable and modern market-oriented institution. Writes and publicly appears on the Serbian political scene, advocating for the introduction of capitalism, a trade market, and the re-establishment of the Yugoslav Stock Market.
1990 - Participated in the establishment of the Belgrade Stock Market.
1990 - Acted as a financial consultant in the federal government led by Prime Minister Ante Marković. Main focus: developing and establishing a contemporary banking system.
1991 - Founded the first private bank in Moscow, Russia (AKA Banka Rusija).
1992 - With financial help from private entrepreneurs, established Credibel Bank in Serbia. The bank was widely accepted due to its valid banking strategy and professionalism. It was later closed by the new government.
Since 1992 - Established numerous companies in Eastern European countries: PRAGABEL in Czech Republic, WAREL in Poland, GIBEL in Hungary, CB FINANCE in Russia, BATO in Bulgaria, CREDOHELM in Romania, FIKON in Ukraine, DEVANA in Serbia.
1992-1995 - Owner of more than 20 companies in Serbia, as well as in the USA, Canada, countries in the European Union, China, and Cyprus. The activities of these companies ranged from agriculture to medicine, and internal and external trade.
1990-2000 - Worked as a consultant for many Eastern European governments and companies: Ministry of Finance of Russia, Ministry of Finance of Bulgaria, Ministry of Trade of Ukraine, Ministry of Development of Romania, Ukrainian Railways, Oil Refinery in Tyumen (Russia), Coal Mines in Kemerovo (Russia).
1996 - Established portfolio-management company KONDEL, which represented the largest Italian government-sponsored company FINES. Conducted capital evaluation and financial analysis of 1,200 companies in Serbia, including RTB Bor, Luka Beograd, PKB Korporacija, and Lasta AD.
1992 - Created a New Economic Program for the federal government of Yugoslavia, led by Prime Minister Milan Panić, by invitation from then-Yugoslav President Dobrica Ćosić. Took part in financing the presidential campaign for Milan Panić.
2000 - After democratic changes, at the request of the new Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić, visited multiple companies across Serbia and created a strategy for overcoming the country’s economic difficulties—all within the first 100 days of service.
2003 - Established the Association of Businessmen: Power of Serbian Business (PSB).
2004 - Established the Association of Serbian Small Shareholders; its membership consists of 200,000 shareholders from over 1,200 companies.
2004 - Became Manager at the Municipality of Trstenik in order to create a positive ambiance that would attract investors to the region.
2007 - Represented over 200,000 shareholders in more than 1,200 companies; increased the share value of more than 530 companies; held more than 300 lectures across Serbia.
2007 - Financial advisor for the Serbian National Party in Montenegro. Consultant for UDAU BIH (Association of Shareholders of Bosnia and Herzegovina). Consultant for the Union of Law Workers.
2007 - Founder of the Business Stock Exchange.
2008 - Director of Austrian firm WIFI in Belgrade, which focuses on education in business.
2009-Present - President of the Association Balkan Business Center.
1990-1996 - Financed restoration of many monasteries and churches in Serbia.
1992 - Founded and financed an alternative school, the Credibel School, which later became BOS Belgrade. The school offered a 6-month program for graduate students, including subjects such as: Oratory Skills, Roman and Greek Cultures, Byzantine Empire, The Art of Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, History of Money, and Diplomacy.
1992 - Founded the publishing house Tersit, which published hundreds of works across all literary categories. It also published some of Mr. Dragaš’s own works, including Titanik, Vertikala, and Kain, as well as notable works by Miroslav Krleža (Itaka), M. Đurić (Humanism as a Political Ideal), and many others.
1997-2001 - Published several novels and dramas:
1992-1993 - Founder and donor for several projects related to Serbian culture, including the Borislav Pekić, Radovan Samardžić, and Stanislav Vinaver funds. Also participated in financing multiple national projects related to science and culture.
1995 - Established a kibbutz-type farm for refugees from Croatia in the village of Šaranovo. The project was later interrupted by changes in government.
1990-1996 - Financed opposition media in Serbia and/or directly participated in their founding. From 1990 to 2000, censured by the government as an ideologist of capitalism. Extensively quoted in local media.
1999 - Alongside close friends and professionals from various fields, created the Program for the Salvation of Serbia, which proposed political and economic reforms.
2001 - Proposed a Round Table on the topic of New Developmental Concepts, open to public commentary.
2003 - Candidate of the movement Privredna Snaga Srbije i Dijaspora (Economic Power of Serbia and Its Diaspora) in the December Parliamentary Elections. Suggested the formation of a New Economic Program and a Government of National Salvation—a non-partisan, multi-party government composed primarily of experts, aimed at restoring the market.
2005 - Established the Economy Movement, a citizens' group with a political and economic program for Serbia’s recovery.
Ongoing - Columnist for Tabloid, an opposition newspaper. Speaker at universities, frequent guest on TV programs, and educator of the Serbian public on economics through media appearances.
Mr. Dragaš is not a member of any political party. He lives in Belgrade. Born on December 15, 1959, in Zemun, Serbia. As a university student, he was nominated seven times for best volunteer in various communal activities.
2024 - Founder of the MOBA Movement, which brings together 500 leading experts and offers a unique program for the salvation of Serbia.
